There are many approaches that you can take to dealing with sleeping issues. When you sit back and look at what has caused your toddler to become a problem to get to sleep on his own accord you can often pinpoint the route of the cause.
Whether its having learnt to sleep in the initial part of the routine using a soother or some comforting milk, when your child wakes they will expect the same routine to follow in order to settle.
One problem we often encounter is when our toddler gets ill, and gets used to the comforting we have given him in order for him to settle down, I am not in anyway saying if you think your child is ill to leave him to cry, as we all like to be comforted in our time of need.
The problem comes afterwards when you have to break this habit, and it can be tough!
We often refer to the controlled crying method, which has various stages, and is the most drastic and will require a lot of patience and determination because they will pull out all the stops to get you to go into them from screaming to calling out mummy and daddy!
