Teething relief for your baby and toddler

Bonjela or Calgel is an effective source of teething pain relief, to help soothe the gums. You may find that your baby needs something stronger, and as a general rule I have found Calpol to be very effective if they have a high temperature with teething, whereas Baby Nurofen is very effective for severe pain relief. It is not recommended that both Calpol and Baby Nurofen are taken at the same time, but in extreme cases when teething relief is required this is possible.

Babies love to chew during teething, so make sure you have plenty of safe items in the house available! Cucumber is a nice and healthy option for teething relief as it is cold from the fridge, frozen banana is another option you may also wish to try. If your baby has a favourite plastic or wooden toy, you might want to consider placing this in the fridge over night so it is nice and cold when they are crying with pain, so it is comforting in two ways!
